Storytelling is one of the oldest creative traditions that humans still engage in. Film making is the highest technological attempt to continue this tradition, as mentioned by Martin Scorsese editing is the essence of film as without it the film would not exist. Simply because the ability to film video exists that does not mean a story exists. A story or film does not exist until someone has the bright idea to cut those disparate videos together to does a narrative of film come into existence. Once that film is edited it is still not effective until contextualised with sound. This is the basis of my interest in both editing and sound as the key components of narrative and storytelling within the medium of film and this website is both an example of my creative vision and experimentation with these concepts.

I hope you enjoyed the video. The concept of the above piece is firstly as written in the title, to be used as a professional showreel of many of the projects I have worked on and edited recently.
All of these projects are available for individual viewing in the projects section along with descriptions of each project and my involvement.
Secondly the video is to be viewed as a form of unofficial music video for the accompanying music which was also performed and produced by me. This second concept seeks to explore a subculture within music videos and editing that has always inspired me known as A.M.V.
A.M.V or "Anime Music Video" is one small representation of the broader practice within internet-era music culture and digital editing which consists of re-editing preexisting footage to create a new music video/narrative, much like the early days of Kuleshov & Esenstien at the Moscow Film School and their historical research & experimentation which elevated the practice of editing from pragmatic to creative, changing the context and our understand of editing forever.
